Exploring the woods of North Carolina. "You will leave this place a different person. Everything that could be done has been done to help you leave here a better person. The answer is in your response. We hope it will be a better person." - L.R. Harrill A place right out of the history of North Carolina, Millstone 4-H Camp is open to everyone. Millstone Millstone 4-H Camp is nestled in the tall pines of the Sandhills near Ellerbe, NC about 30 miles south of Southern Pines. Established in 1939, it was once a site where granite was quarried by hand to provide grinding stones for mills located in the piedmont of North and South Carolina. The center covers 320 acres of undisturbed woodlands and is situated within the 60,000-acre Sandhills Wildlife Management Gamelands. Near the center of the camp property is a picturesque 17-acre lake where campers can fish and canoe. Millstone offers traditional camping programs for youth ages 5 to 19 and is open to everyone, whether they are involved in 4-H or not. We also offer specialty camps in subjects such as wildlife management, target shooting sports, cloverbud camp (5 to 8 year olds), and 4-H project camp open to all. The camp facilities are also available to rental groups for week, weekend, or day outings. Examples of groups renting the facilities are church groups, band camps, Boy Scouts, civic groups, school groups and others. "It's about the Kids!" - a safe place to live and learn
Horse Facility A part of Millstone 4-H Camp is dedicated to a horseback riding facility, which includes six barns with 120 stalls and four riding rings. This is the home of the annual 4-H Horsemanship Camp. One of the rings is lighted to provide safe riding conditions during the evening hours. The camp also has access to miles of trails within the Gamelands.
